Part of the Events Series:

Quick Answer

Separate events that reward spending, events that require attendance and events with their own map or rules. Saving speed-ups helps only when the activity and scoring window match. It does not replace registering for Showdown, joining Trap rallies or clearing a Plague Zone.

Keep normal building, research and stamina use productive. Save discretionary materials and speed-ups for a defined opportunity, then stop when the next reward costs more than you want to commit. Rewards do not automatically repay the full value spent.

Overview

State age, season, testing and schedule changes affect what appears in the event billboard. There is no single verified monthly timetable for every state. Use the live calendar and your alliance's announced times; an old fixed “Throwdown, then SvS” schedule should not decide your entire inventory plan.

The useful habit is to understand the next action that earns points, the reward you are trying to reach and what you give up by spending now.

Read the Scoring Trigger

A task can reward using an item, finishing an upgrade, gaining Power, collecting a resource or completing an accepted challenge. Those are not interchangeable.

Before a large spend, make a small eligible action and inspect progress. This is useful for similarly named machine materials, different Plasma currencies and purchases with qualifying-pack restrictions.

For a troop task, distinguish training and upgrading. For an accepted task, start it before the qualifying action. For a construction-completion task, know when the timer ends rather than merely when the upgrade starts.

Build a Reserve With a Purpose

Use three practical categories:

  • Keep working: normal construction and research queues, daily free claims and useful stamina regeneration.
  • Reserve for a planned window: discretionary speed-ups, general fragments and choice materials with a confirmed scoring route.
  • Spend only at a defined threshold: premium currency or purchases that would otherwise exceed your budget.

Do not leave a builder idle for several days just because a later event might award a small bonus. The missed production and delayed unlock are real costs. The resource management guide helps keep the growth budget separate from event spending.

Compare Two Events Fairly

Write down the next attainable reward in each event, the exact remaining requirement and the other uses of those items. Include the alliance or state goal if you have committed to one.

A genuine overlap means the same action qualifies during both live windows. Spending in Throwdown this week and hoping for SvS credit next week is not overlap. Conversely, completing an accepted Throwdown task while a compatible SotF stage is active may serve both objectives if the current rules accept the action.

Set a stopping point before the leaderboard race. A new reward threshold and a temporary rank gain are different benefits, especially when other players can move the rank after you log off.

Other Regular Activities

Use Intel Missions, Infected Fiends and Explorer Trail for repeatable progression. Plan Infected Horde with alliance defenders, and keep King of the Hill separate from ordinary open-world combat.

Annihilation Awaits and Behemoth development, Nexus Struggle and Joint Exercises, and seasonal systems have their own prerequisites and timers. A new banner does not imply the same rules as last season.

Shops, Expiry and Collaboration Events

Check the event end, exchange-shop end and currency description separately. Some currencies expire or convert; others may persist. Do not assume everything carries over, or spend everything merely because another event's currency once expired.

For collaborations, inspect the free path and the complete cost of any intended hero development. Paid progression can affect combat; it should not be described universally as cosmetic.

F2P and Spender Plans

F2P: prioritize participation and achievable milestones using resources already allocated to useful growth. Bank flexible materials without starving daily progress.

Spenders: make purchases against a defined upgrade and confirmed scoring eligibility. An event bonus does not turn an unwanted purchase into a saving.

Common Mistakes

  • Applying one state's calendar to every account.
  • Treating every event as a material-spending event.
  • Accepting a task after doing the scored activity.
  • Stalling essential growth for a small event bonus.
  • Chasing rank without a stopping budget.
  • Missing the shop's separate closing timer.

For Behemoth boss activity, prepare with the Annihilation Awaits guide. Check the edition before scheduling attempts; published formats differ in both opening windows and daily allowances.

FAQ

Should I save everything for events? No. Keep normal growth working and reserve discretionary items for a known useful scoring window.

Should Throwdown or SvS always take priority? Compare your current milestones, inventory, actual schedule and alliance commitments. A universal priority ignores those costs and rewards.

Is there a fixed monthly calendar? Availability and schedules vary by state and season. Use the in-game billboard and announced alliance times.

Does event currency always expire? No universal rule applies. Read that currency's description and the exchange-shop closing time.

Key Takeaways

  • Identify whether the event needs spending, registration or attendance.
  • Match the exact scoring trigger before committing materials.
  • Compare attainable rewards and opportunity costs.
  • Keep growth moving and stop at the budget you chose.
